Sealcoat is a rubberized coal tar emulsion of asphalt, water, mineral
fillers, and various other materials combined together which is applied directly to the surface of an asphalt pavement using a
rubber squeegee followed with the use of a mechanical spray.
The purpose of
Seal coat is to seal a layer to the top of the asphalt which
protects it from sun exposure and penetrating water.
Seal coat is most often applied to parking lots and driveways. Sealcoat is
also often used to remedy areas of gasoline or chemicals spills.
The process of sealcoating is considered a cost preventative
solution to the high expense of replacing damaged asphalt.
